The Mid East Cross Country Championships is a unique and outstanding meet which invites the top high school senior runners from Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Kentucky, and Illinois.  In 2024, Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan sent teams.  The meet is held on the 3rd Saturday in November in Kettering, Ohio, and is under the guidance of Meet Director Neal Charske, a member of the Ohio Track & XC Coaches Hall of Fame. 

The meet gives runners a chance to compete with, and against, the best runners in the Mid East Region.  It also gives college coaches a chance to see potential recruits under race conditions and competition similar to what they will face in the future.  These athletes have run against their new teammates, and now have an opportunity to end their high school careers practicing and teaming with former competitors against the best from other nearby states. 

The event is sponsored by the Ohio Association of High School Track & XC Coaches, the Southwest Ohio Track, Field & XC Officials Association, the Dor-Wood Optimist Club, the Kettering Foundation, Kettering Health, and Can’t Stop Running.  Other local organizations help us with race preparation and operations. 

Additional financial and other assistance is welcome from new partners!  Any contribution would be greatly appreciated and would help us continue to improve the experience for these great runners, coaches, parents, and fans.
